 In covid-19, Webinars

How physical space can shape an organisation, and why COVID accelerates the need to talk about the physical.

WEBINAR: Wednesday 23rd September 2020

ODNE Carnival of Disruption. Why do we need a physical space?

We are excited to be a part of the OD Network Europe Carnival of Disruption; a carnival of events running from 21-25 September 2020. The whole carnival of disruption is online so you join us from wherever you prefer!

Our session: Let’s get physical!

When Kurt Lewin theorised that behaviour is the product of the person and their environment, he was not thinking about physical space. But he might as well have been. The space around us consistently influences how we think, feel, and behave.

But what does that have to do with organisations? Organisations, like human beings, have a physical body that interacts with the environment to influence organisational life. The organisation’s physical body is where its narrative and actions are played out. How business gets done depends in part on where business gets done.

In this session, Julian, Jamesina and Jon will dive into the little-explored role of physical space in developing organisations and shaping work.

We will use embodiment practices to uncover the power and importance of attending to our surroundings as part of holistic change, and we will discuss how organisations across the world are taking physical space into account, especially in the time of COVID. Finally, we will attempt to answer the question of the moment: Now that we are all working from home, why do organisations need an office?

Why do you think we need an office?

We would love to hear from you. And if you can’t make this webinar, join our mailing list below to keep up-to-date on the next one.
