new concept plans

Since forming in 1996, HatchTech has grown to about 300 employees between Netherlands, China, Ukraine, & Poland. Founder Tjitze Meter’sphilosophy has always remained that incubation can be done differently. Creating an immersive expo experience for potential clients was part of themain motivation.

The New Way of Working

As organisation's adapt to evolving business landscapes, the New Way of Working emphasises flexibility, collaboration, and a people-centric approach.

This approach recognises that employees perform a range of tasks requiring diverse work settings, supported by innovative technology and a culture of openness.

By focusing on both individual and collective needs, companies can create work environments that foster productivity, innovation, and well-being, whether employees are in the office or working remotely.

In this transformation, Veldhoen + Company guided Hatchtech through a structured change management process, helping them transition to a New Way of Working.

This involved assessing current work patterns, leveraging data-driven insights, and co-creating a strategy aligned with their business objectives.

The result is a flexible and dynamic workspace that supports focused work, collaboration, and social connection while promoting employee engagement and organisational success.

“The only way out is through.”

- PAUL HOPPE  Project Leader & Architect

HatchTech developed four aspirations to guide their transformation:

01
The office as a hub for social innovation
02
Better results via sustainable foodsupply
03
Transparency via a new experiencecentre & all year expo
04
Become an employer of choice byproviding an intentional environmentthat rewards time together

Challenge 1

Sustainability Requirements/ Legislation

The influence of a transformation economy, to be more efficient and economical.

The sustainability issues came to a head in 2020 in Holland needed to go towards all electrical powered building. There is no grid to supply the electricity.

The Netherlands is known for its engineering on a landscape scale. It is a delta with a dense population and a lot of mixed used of land.

Vertical solutions and different stacked purposes can be interesting for future development and polution free growing of crops. Vertical farming uses less resources, water, and land.

Challenge 2

Redefining project scope during 2020

Modifying the concept during the pandemic. Decision making in the board led to a scaled down project.

Journey

With support from V+C, and the implementation of the WoW survey HatchTech launched their New Way of Working and opened their new office in month/year.

Team Maturity Scan

As part of the Ways-of-Working Survey (WoW), the Team Maturity Scan measured Hatchtech’s readiness for change and set priorities to ensure the success.

We provided basic knowledge around company-wide agreements, discussed status of team maturity on the levels of ‘cohesion’ and ‘safety’ and made sure that team agreements were relevant, helpful and achievable for this team. It also indicated the opportunities and pitfalls for the team when it comes to working together and achieving its goals. Agreements were then captured in a clear & cohesive team canvas format.

Work Dynamic Scan

A container concept indicated how people work in the organisation. By looking at the present work dynamics, it provides a baseline for measurement and improvement.

Future Developments

The building concept proved to be a great success. In 2025, the board decided to purchase the adjacent plot of land to develop a new 24/7 working concept, integrating leisure activities on the rooftop of the new logistics facility. This expansion will include a sports complex featuring four padel courts, a gym, and a sports bar offering healthy food within an enlarged restaurant.
